What happens during a fertility acupuncture session
Balancing your hormones and regulating your bodyβs natural processes are essential for a healthy reproductive system.
By unblocking your energy channel, acupuncture helps your blood and Qi (energy) flow freely through the body. As this happens, your body is empowered to find balance again.
After our initial consultation, youβll lie down comfortably, surrounded by fluffy pillows and scents that will promote deep relaxation. Close your eyes and breathe.
We insert tiny acupuncture needles in specific acupuncture points on your body. Donβt worry, these donβt hurt. You might just feel a slight sting upon insertion, followed by a gradual release of any tensions in your muscles and tendons.
Through our holistic healing approach, we address any back or pelvic pain instability, calm anxiety and stress, and gently stimulate your body to rest, reset and recover.
Let go and enjoy the process. Smile, laugh, cry, or drift into a blissful nap - this is your time!

We are on your team
Nothing warms our hearts and souls more than hearing our patientsβ fertility success stories. Hereβs a glimpse into how weβve humbly contributed so many reproductive health and pregnancy journeys:
βFinally my 13 years of struggle to conceive is over with the help of Sherry. After three failed IVF cycles I conceived naturally with the help of acupuncture and their in-house supplements prescribed by Dr. Sherry.β
βSherry administered my pre- and post- frozen embryo transfer treatments on-site at my fertility clinic. This can be an overwhelming experience but her kind and gentle nature was immediately calming. Sherry was holistic in her approach and spent a lot of time discussing diet, physical and mental approaches to making this a successful transfer for me...β
βI always look forward to my acupuncture appointments with her as it is very calming and relaxing. Before seeing her I used to have irregular very painful cycles but now they are regular and barely any pain.β
βSherry was a lifesaver for me through a high-risk first trimester. I had suffered previous losses and I sought acupuncture treatment to help me emotionally and physically through the difficult time. I found her treatments go beyond acupuncture. Sherry's ability to listen and offer the right amount of feedback was always exactly what I needed. Her energy is healing. Her knowledge of health and well being is excellent.β

Frequently Asked Questions about Acupuncture
-
Acupuncture is an ancient eastern medicine practice of removing blockages in the bodyβs energy system by inserting tiny needles into specific pressure points. According to traditional Chinese medicine, the human body consists of distinct channels through which Qi (energy) and Xue (blood) flows.
Research shows that acupuncture has the power to affect our nervous system in a profound way. Our bodies can heal themselves when put in the right environment. Through acupuncture treatments, our body is given the gentle nudge it needs to find its balance again and regain its self-healing mechanism, defending us against illnesses, injuries, and pain (physical and mental).
-
Contrary to popular belief, acupuncture needles do not hurt! Even those with severe fear of needles end up telling us it was not so bad after their treatment. You might feel a slight sting with This should not last too long. If you experience intense pain during an acupuncture treatment, make sure to let your acupuncturist know.

Your body and circumstances are unique so the number of times you receive acupuncture can vary. Your acupuncturist will design a treatment plan based on your body, lifestyle, and medical history. As a general guide, women who are actively trying to conceive would start acupuncture during the follicular phase, which is day 5, 6, 7, or 8 of your menstrual cycle. Some start the session the day before, the day of or the day after ovulation, or during the implantation time (6-10 days after ovulation. This would imply 3 to 4 acupuncture sessions per month.
For women undergoing IVF treatments, we advise you to start acupuncture 6 to 8 weeks prior to transfer. Depending on how your body is dealing with the IVF, we might want to book you in once or twice a week.

Yes! Many couples see IVF as scary, tiring, and overwhelming. We are here to remind you that it does not have to feel this way. Acupuncture helps you take care of your mind, body, and your soul so you can feel more relaxed and open to receive your IVF treatments fully. By using this holistic approach, we have helped many couples succeed in falling pregnant after previous failed attempts.

After your sessions, your acupuncturist will give you a detailed after-care guide which can include:
Staying hydrated to flush out all the toxins.
Resting and avoiding strenuous activities. Rest and sleep is an important part of healing. Hereβs your excuse to wear your favourite loungewear and get comfy with your favourite book and some warm chamomile tea!
-
It depends! Acupuncture is the process of gently helping your body find its balance and self-heal. The benefits of multiple sessions are cumulative. Thatβs why we advise women to continue their acupuncture sessions for 1 to 3 months. While doing so, we also advise you and your partner on lifestyle changes and how to incorporate Chinese fertility herbs into your diet that we believe could be beneficial to you. Remember, this is a holistic approach.
