Does acupuncture hurt?
Contrary to popular belief, acupuncture needles do not hurt! Even those with severe fear of needles end up telling us it was not so bad after their treatment. How frequently should I get treatment?
It depends! The frequency of treatment varies depending on different factors including your health history, the severity of your condition, the season and/or climate, your age, your gender, your current lifestyle as well as how your body responds to the first few sessions. Every body is different, so is the acupuncture treatment you will be provided. Acupuncture is a process and results a cumulative. Consistency is key to giving your body the time it needs to heal itself in a sustainable, non-invasive way.
How do I know acupuncture is working?
After two or three sessions, you will start to notice improvements in your physical and emotional state. You may feel keener and more alert. You will also start to be more aware of your surroundings as well as your own body sensations. Overall, you will observe a sense of wellness, calmness and improved fitness.
I’m pregnant. Can I receive acupuncture during pregnancy?
Congratulations! Pre-birth acupuncture sessions are highly recommended to support you during the final weeks of your pregnancy to prepare you for childbirth. Clinically and scientifically acupuncture has been proven to naturally help decrease the duration of labour and decrease discomfort and reduce uncomfortable symptoms that may arise during these times. Usually, consistent treatments are recommended starting around 37 weeks to help promote natural labour. Our team will provide you all the information you need to make an informed decision about your acupuncture treatment during pregnancy.
Can I get an acupuncture treatment if I have a cold?
We are dedicated to keeping our staff and patients safe. For the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic, please stay home if you have any cold or flu symptoms and call 8-1-1, the Nurses Hotline for further instructions and whether to be tested.
What should I avoid after my acupuncture treatment?
We recommend resting after an acupuncture treatment. Be gentle to your body and avoid junk food, alcohol or caffeine. Avoid strenuous activities, this is the time for your body to rest and heal.
Will my health insurance cover the cost of acupuncture?
Yes! Acupuncture is covered by most extended health plans in BC. Please contact your employer or extended health provider (including students) to find out about your coverage.We can bill directly for ICBC claims.
