Acupuncture for ICBC Injuries

Acupuncture is a gentle, effective, and evidence-informed approach that supports the body’s natural healing process. It works by stimulating specific points on the body to improve circulation, regulate the nervous system, and reduce inflammation.

After a motor vehicle accident, acupuncture can support recovery from:

  • Neck and back pain (including whiplash)

  • Muscle tension and stiffness

  • Headaches and migraines

  • Stress, anxiety, and emotional trauma

  • Sleep disturbances

  • Reduced mobility and range of motion

Our approach focuses not only on symptom relief, but on supporting your body as a whole, especially during what can be a stressful and disruptive time.

What you can expect from us

Your body inherently knows balance, but sometimes it may stray off-path. Our role, as acupuncturists, is to assist your body to shift back into that balance it needs to function with ease.

During your acupuncture sessions, your practitioner may incorporate:

  • Acupuncture to regulate the nervous system and reduce pain

  • Cupping therapy to relieve muscle tension and improve circulation

  • Gua sha to release fascial restrictions and support mobility

These therapies work together to:

  • Reduce inflammation

  • Improve blood flow

  • Release tension

  • Support faster, more complete recovery

At Unplug Hour Wellness, we don’t just treat your condition, we help you manage and prevent them too. Our process is comprehensive. We believe in involving you in every step of your healing. We answer all your questions, help you understand the root cause of your condition, and equip you with the knowledge you need to make better-informed health decisions for a bright future.

  • Yes. Many patients experience increased stress, anxiety, or disrupted sleep after an accident.

Acupuncture helps regulate the nervous system, which can support:

    • Reduced anxiety

    • Improved sleep

    • A greater sense of calm and balance

We take a whole-person approach to your recovery.

  • Research shows that acupuncture has the power to affect our nervous system in a profound way. Our bodies have the ability to heal themselves when put in the right environment. Through acupuncture treatments, our body is given the gentle nudge it needs to find its balance again and regain its self-healing mechanism, defending us against illnesses, injuries, and pain (physical and mental).

  • Contrary to popular belief, acupuncture needles do not hurt! Even those with severe fear of needles end up telling us that the needles were not so bad after their treatment. While you might feel a slight sting upon insertion, these needles are much smaller than needles you would use in other procedures. Your treatment should feel relaxing and pain free. If you experience intense pain during an acupuncture treatment, make sure to let your acupuncturist know.

  • It depends! The frequency of treatment varies depending on different factors including your health history, the severity of your condition, the season and/or climate, your age, your gender, your current lifestyle as well as how your body responds to the first few sessions. Every body is different, so is the acupuncture treatment you will be provided. Acupuncture is a process and results a cumulative. Consistency is key to giving your body the time it needs to heal itself in a sustainable, non-invasive way.

  • After two or three sessions, you will start to notice improvements in your physical and emotional state. You may feel keener and more alert. You will also start to be more aware of your surroundings as well as your own body sensations. Overall, you will observe a sense of wellness, calmness, and improved fitness.

  • Congratulations! Pre-birth acupuncture sessions are highly recommended to support you during the final weeks of your pregnancy to prepare you for childbirth. Clinically and scientifically acupuncture has been proven to naturally help decrease the duration of labour and decrease discomfort and reduce uncomfortable symptoms that may arise during these times. Usually, consistent treatments are recommended starting around 37 weeks to help promote natural labour. Our team will provide you all the information you need to make an informed decision about your acupuncture treatment during pregnancy.

  • We recommend resting after an acupuncture treatment. Be gentle to your body and avoid junk food, alcohol, or caffeine. Avoid strenuous activities, this is the time for your body to rest and heal.
